BitterSweet

Well this is our last full day in the Philippines.  I just finished practicing with the choir for tomorrow's worship service.  They asked me to sing a solo part.  One fellow told me I sing like an angel - made me laugh out loud!

The church here starts at 7:30am (and ends when it is over).  It allows them to worship before it gets unbearably hot which is anytime after 10am. I am going to preach about heaven. It will probably be the next time I see these brothers and sisters. The truth is I can hardly wait to get home.  The anticipation of joy in seeing my family, friends and church is real.  But so is the sorrow I feel at leaving these people. (However, I won't miss lizards on the ceilings and cockroaches the size of mice!)

Pastor Melvin
The Filipino people are an amazing lot. Probably the thing I like they most about them is their love of laughter. Even the poorest of folk were quick to smile and when they do their dark eyes light up like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Just being around them makes me SMILE!

  1. There is something about Jesus induced laughter isn't there! Look forward to hearing your laughter and what God has shown you!
